Information about the Volvo Group IT Graduate Program:
The Volvo Group IT Graduate Program gives you a unique opportunity to gain a holistic view of the Volvo Group IT and to kick-start your career through international assignments, work in different parts of the organization, networking, and professional and personal development. Upon completion of the program, you will continue to work in the position you were recruited in, either in the same delivery or in another assignment.
The program runs for 11 months starting in end of August 2019 and will include 6 countries. The program includes a combination of common and individual graduate activities and day-to-day work at the home department. It also consists of common development activities at different locations globally, where the participants meet and network.
The program also includes learning activities in your home organization and an international assignment.
During the program you will participate in training sessions covering fundamental Group concepts, such as diversity, personal development, project management, cross cultural communication etc.

We are a unit within Group IT with approximately 1600 people having full responsibility to manage the evolution of all the commercial solutions used by the truck brands and that are common for the Volvo Group. On top of that we also have a significant delivery for Volvo Financial Services. We forecast to deliver Business value of 2 billion SEK which will bring great challenges and opportunities to be part of the digitalization of the Volvo Group. We have development and support centers reaching from Japan in the East to the US in the West and employees in India, Poland, Sweden, China, France, Japan, UK, Brazil, Belgium and the US.

Responsibilities / Main tasks / Targets
You will work in one of the teams here in Greensboro being a part of the team currently developing a Common Case tool on the Pega platform together with Pegasystems. The group is also responsible for java/.net solutions.
Some activities are:
- Work with end users and other stakeholders to ensure requirements are in place
- Work with new development in existing applications
- Work with new projects, creating new solutions
- Work with maintenance and support of selected systems
What skills are needed to qualify?
- Mandatory understanding of JAVA development
- Mandatory understanding of object-oriented programming
- Mandatory understanding of xml and Json
- Proficient understanding of DevOps
- Proficient understanding of Enterprise integration patterns & best practices.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (TFS, GIT )
Eligible candidates must be recent (2017/2018) or expectant (May 2019) graduate. Visa sponsorship is not offered for this role; therefore, US work authorization is required.
- Bachelors in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related area. Strong preference for Master's degree applicants.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Maximum of two years post-graduation work experience.
- Previous experience through internship or business sponsored student project(s).
Limited travelling is required. Part of the trainee program will be work experience abroad.
